Your Invisalign treatment journey

Initial consultation

Your first appointment on the way to your brand new smile is a thorough consultation with our specialist orthodontist, David Gale. We take the time to understand the way you would like your smile to look, examine your teeth and mouth, and explain how the Invisalign process works. You also get a chance to ask any questions you have about the treatment.

Digital planning

We take digital x-rays and scans of your teeth with our specialist equipment, which are used to form your bespoke treatment plan.

Discreet teeth straightening

Your Invisalign treatment involves a series of clear aligners, which gradually and gently move your teeth into their ideal new positions, controlled by your treatment plan. Each set of aligners needs to be worn for two weeks before being changed for the next. We keep a close eye on your progress at regular appointments to ensure the best results.

A beautiful new smile!

When you have worn your last aligner, your treatment is complete. We give you a final retainer to ensure your teeth remain straight and watch you start smiling with pride!

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a very popular orthodontic treatment, using removable and virtually invisible aligners to transform the appearance of your smile in an innovative way.

Invisalign fits seamlessly into your life and doesn’t require any diet or lifestyle changes to produce incredible results. It’s also very easy to use; all you need to do is make sure you wear your aligners for 22 hours per day to keep your straight smile on track. When you remove your aligners for eating, drinking or brushing your teeth, just give them a rinse and pop them straight back in your mouth – it really is that simple!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Invisalign suitable for everyone?

Invisalign is suitable for cases of mild to moderate spacing or crowding issues, and is a very popular treatment, but may not be right for every patient. We are happy to discuss Invisalign and all your other specialist orthodontic treatment options at your consultation appointment.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

The length of time your Invisalign treatment will take depends on how far your teeth need to move to reach their new positions, their starting condition, and how well they move. Most Invisalign cases are completed in 6-18 months, but we will make sure we inform you of your expected treatment time during the initial stages.

Does Invisalign hurt?

You may feel some discomfort when you first wear a new aligner, but this is very short-lived. The aligners are made especially for you, using incredibly precise digital scans to ensure a snug and comfortable fit. There is no metal involved at all, so nothing can irritate or hurt your mouth.

Will people notice my clear aligners?

Invisalign’s clear aligners are highly discreet, and virtually invisible when worn. Other people won’t be able to tell you are having orthodontic treatment unless you tell them, or they see you removing an aligner!

Can I take my clear aligners out?

Yes, one of the key benefits of Invisalign is the removable nature of the clear aligners. You will need to take them out daily to enable you to eat and drink, but you should put them back in your mouth as soon as you can afterwards. The removable aligners also mean you can focus on maintaining an excellent level of oral hygiene throughout treatment.

Why do I need retainers?

Retainers are often referred to as the final stage of all orthodontic treatment, and are needed to keep your new smile straight. You will need to wear your retainers on a part time basis, usually overnight, for as long as you want to maintain your treatment results.

How much does Invisalign cost on average?

The average cost for Invisalign is between £2-6k. Invisalign Lite and Express are cheaper but may not be suitable for your needs. The best orthodontic treatment for you will be determined by how much movement is needed for your teeth and jaw and we can advise you of this at your consultation.

What are the downsides of Invisalign?

Invisalign and other invisible aligners are not always suitable for every type of orthodontic issue. More severe malocclusions and wide gaps between teeth will need traditional braces.

What’s better, braces or Invisalign?

Both Invisalign and traditional braces can be very effective orthodontic appliances. They can improve both your smile and your overall oral health. Invisalign is considered to be most effective on moderate crowding of the front teeth, whereas traditional braces can be used for all orthodontic issues, including more severe cases.
